Intended use
BACTIF is clinician-facing educational clinical decision support for adult acute care. It supports structured reasoning; it does not diagnose, triage autonomously or prescribe.
Not a medical device
BACTIF is not registered or certified as a medical device and must not be used as one. It does not provide autonomous diagnosis or automated treatment decisions.
Limitations
Coverage is not exhaustive and is not real-time. Paediatric, neonatal and obstetric-specific pathways are out of scope. Reference ranges are example adult ranges that vary by laboratory and population. Absence of a red flag never excludes severe infection.
Local applicability
All output must be qualified by local policy, antibiogram and resistance patterns, allergy, pregnancy, age, renal and hepatic function, drug interactions and microbiology results.
Provenance and review
Every clinical record carries publisher, document title, version, jurisdiction, population scope, accessed date and review due date. Content last reviewed 8 August 2026; next review due 31 December 2026.
No opaque AI in clinical logic
Differential ranking and rule evaluation are deterministic and inspectable. Generative models are not used to calculate diagnosis or to generate dosing.
Data handling
Records you save are stored on your own device first and, once you are online and signed in, in your BACTIF account, where only you can see them. You remain the data controller for anything you enter and are responsible for a lawful basis, consent, confidentiality, security of exports and the retention rules of your institution and jurisdiction. Military, defence and politically sensitive data must never be entered. Content changes and rule executions are audited. Public visitors have read-only access to published clinical content only.

BACTIF is educational clinical decision support, not a medical device, and does not diagnose or prescribe. It is provided without warranty of fitness for any clinical purpose. The treating clinician remains solely responsible for every diagnostic and treatment decision, and BACTIF accepts no liability for loss or harm arising from use of its output or its exports.
